Applegarth Villa Access Statement

We aim to cater for the needs of all who visit Applegarth Villa. We have eighteen letting bedrooms, all en-suite. Six of the bedrooms are on the first floor level, six bedrooms on the second floor and four bedrooms on the lower ground floor.  The following statement is a summary of our provision.

Pre-Arrival
We are situated approximately 100 meters from Windermere village centre, approximately two minutes on foot.
There is a bus stop close to the front entrance of Applegarth Villa, which runs a frequent bus service. The main train station is approximately two minutes on foot from Applegarth Villa and there are a number of local taxi services that have accessible taxis if required. We can supply contact numbers so that you may make a booking if required.
Brochures and menus can be provided in large print if required.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
On arrival, we ask that all guests are to call at our front entrance. The entrance has 24hr lighting and there is free roadside parking at the front of the property. Applegarth villa also benefits from its own car park, with ample room for up to twenty cars, which is monitored by a 24hr CCTV system. The car park has a level tarmac surface with a steep gradient drive to the main front entrance.
The car park is illuminated during the dark hours by a motion sensitive lighting system.
We are able to assist guests with their luggage from the car park, should it be required.

Main Entrance & Reception
The front porch entrance has a series of 3 sets of 2 steps (av ht 20cm.) leading up to the front entrance. The front doors open between the hours of 7:30am and 10:00pm.
The external front doors on the porch are of a double door construction and are constructed out of hard wood timber and glass. The internal porch doors (main entrance to reception) are of the same construction.
Reception hall (5m x 6m.) On arrival, guests are required to complete our registration form and after a tour of the breakfast, bar and restaurant area, are then shown to there pre-allocated rooms. All facilities are explained and seating is provided in reception at all times.

Public Areas – General (Internal)
Our breakfast room, conservatory restaurant, bar, conservatory lounge and  rest rooms are all situated on the ground floor. The covering on the stairs and upstairs landings and corridors is a hardwearing short-pile fitted carpet, secured with carpet gripper rods and has been treated with a fire retardant. There are 7 stairs leading to a quarter landing, 2 stairs to the next quarter landing 9 stairs to the next quarter landing and a further 2 stairs to the first floor corridor (accessed through a fire door). The first floor comprises of six en-suite guest rooms (1 single, 1 classic double, 1 deluxe double, 2 superior four posters and a luxury double.)
Access to the second floor is by way of a further 9 steps to a quarter landing followed by a further 3 steps to a quarter landing and a further 8 steps to the second floor corridor (accessed through a fire door) The second floor consists of six en-suite rooms ( 1 single, 2 classic doubles, 2 four poster rooms and a luxury double room)
Access to the lower ground floor is from reception through the door leading to the kitchen. A left turn in front of the main kitchen door leads you to a further flight of stairs going down to the lower ground floor. There is 1 step to a quarter landing 2 steps to a quarter landing and a further 10 steps to the ground floor corridor where there is a further 4 deluxe en-suite rooms 3 of which are accessed through a fire door.
The stairs are 17cm high, 30cm deep and 100cm wide, throughout the building.

Public Areas – WC/TOILETS
All rooms in the Applegarth villa are en-suite. All en-suites comprise of a toilet unit, a washbasin and either a shower unit, bath with shower or walk in wet room showers. All en-suites are modern with recently fitted facilities tiled splash back and either tiled or Apollo vinyl flooring. There are two public toilets on the ground floor both in the hotel entrance to the right of the inner doors as you enter the building.

They comprise of
First Room

  • One toilet with cistern
  • One hand wash basin

Second Room

  • One toilet with cistern
  • One hand wash basin

Dining Room
Breakfast is served in the breakfast room between the hours of 8:30 am and 9:30 am. The breakfast room is accessed through either the main reception or the conservatory restaurant. The entry from the main entrance is level and the door width is 90cm. The entry from the conservatory restaurant has a single 14cm step down into the breakfast room. There are twenty available tables suitable for use in the restaurant or breakfast room. Each table seats two guests, but has the capability to seat more if required.
The tables are 76cm wide, 76cm deep and 75cm in height and are supported by a centre stand splaying into 4 feet. Chairs are without arms. Menus may be provided in large print by prior arrangement. Soft lighting and background music are played during breakfast and dinner. All dietary needs are catered for by prior arrangement.

Laundry
Laundry facilities are not available at the Applegarth villa, but there is a laundrette within a two minute walking distance of the hotel in Windermere village centre.

Leisure Facilities
Applegarth villa offers the opportunity to use ‘parklands’ private leisure club, a two-minute drive or a ten to fifteen minute walk away from the hotel. Directions and passes can be obtained from reception

Outdoor facilities
There is a small recreational park, with a running track to the rear of the hotel. Applegarth Villa has exclusive access to leisure facilities, situated at the Burnside Hotel, Bowness, Windermere. These facilities can be used by Applegarth residents on the understanding that any liability to persons or property falls under the health and safety policies of the Burnside Hotel and Parklands Country Club.

Bedrooms
There is central heating throughout the hotel. The temperature of each guest bedroom is controlled by thermostatic controls on the radiators. The beds are made using all season duvets, laundered cotton sheets and pillowcases. Each bedroom has a ‘hospitality tray’ with tea, coffee, bottles of still and sparkling water and biscuits. In each bedroom there is a hairdryer, a clock radio and a TV with remote. Each room has storage, which  consists of a wardrobe, chest-of-drawers and two bedside cabinets with the exception of the two single rooms which have only one. All furniture in all of the rooms  are of the same make and size.
Average bed height is 76cm. Average width of room doors is 90cm (entrance and en-suite). Average WC height is 40cm; Average height of washbasins is 86cm.

All rooms are en-suite and each en-suite has shower gel and shampoo

Additional Information
Please take time to read the fire notice positioned on the back of the room door or positioned on the wall to one side. Should the fire alarm ring, please follow the instructions laid out on the diagram leaving the building by either using the front door, fire escape or through the conservatory if evacuation is necessary. If you require assistance in any way in this kind of emergency (hearing impairment, sight impairmant or physical disability please advise us on arrival so that we can make arrangements for your safe evacuation.

There are two folders in all rooms, one which gives tourist information about the Lake District, the other is our Welcome Folder which we hope will answer all your questions you may have.

  • We are totally non smoking.
  • We do not allow take-away foods to be brought in.
  • Internet access by way of wi-fi is available throughout the Applegarth.
  • Mobile telephone signals can be obtained within the building.
